Forget about course work or the stress of exams by arriving in the exotic South Seas. You will land at Nadi Airport and be met by your Team Leaders for the first time.
Every expedition starts with an all inclusive 3 day briefing at a beautiful tropical beach resort. This is time for you to get to set your goals, learn more about your project, get to know your team mates and to tune into ‘Fiji time’.
Leaving your briefing paradise, we travel to your remote traditional Fijian community. Depending on your village, this could be a truck to deep jungle or ferry to an outer island.
Arriving into your Fijian village is an exciting and nervous moment! Every door is open in a Fijian community and the generosity and genuine excitement of the local people is profound. By the end of the project our volunteers feel as though they are leaving a second home in the South Pacific.
Some of your greatest experiences will be the simple activities of daily Fijian life; learning how to weave palm leaves, cooking Fijian food in underground earth ovens, drinking ceremonial Kava with the chief, or husking coconuts.
When volunteering in your very own village, we work with children and young Fijians to contribute to Fijian Government aims.We focus upon developing holistic health through a range of activities across sports, youth clubs and health. The days are rewarding and incredibly busy!
Live at the heart of some of the most rural communities and immerse yourself into local village life, where everyday is an adventure. If you’re looking for the ultimate adventure then Fiji is waiting to be explored…
Leaving your Fijian village is an emotional experience; such are the close bonds that are formed between our volunteers and the local community. Farewell dinners, emotional goodbyes and the pride in your achievements will sum up your final days.
We finish the project by enjoying our final couple of days relaxing at a beautiful beach resort. We ask for your all-important feedback as we reflect on the project and celebrate your achievements with a farewell dinner.
I had such an amazing experience in project with Think Pacific! It was the best thing I could have done on my university experience and so happy I have done it!! There is so much support and guidance before and during the project to make sure that you are prepared for village life.
I came across this opportunity with Think Pacific through my University at Nottingham Trent and couldn’t recommended it more! It really has been a remarkable, unforgettable experience. Living in a rural village with your own Fijian family allows you to fully experience the Fijian culture, creating amazing memories and truly feeling part of the family. Teaching and leading sports sessions felt so rewarding seeing the progress and happy faces from the kids. The Think Pacific team are a very hardworking, genuine charity who supported me every step of my journey. If you are thinking about this project go for it!! Get ready for a month full of big smiles, Fijian dancing and a whole lot of laughter, you won’t regret it!
We have been working with Think Pacific to send student volunteering groups since 2014 and they are pleasure to work with. The experiences that the students gain from volunteering in these amazing rural Fijian communities are exceptional. Simon, Harry and the team are so easy to work with and really understand the needs of the students and encourage them to push themselves in scenarios that they are not always confident in. The ethical, sustainable nature of the work that Think Pacific do in Fiji is so important and working alongside the government allow students so many opportunities to gain experiences that will enable them to speak confidently in interviews and on job applications of the future. The long lasting memories of the families and communities that welcomed the groups are still spoken about years later and we look forward to working with Think Pacific for many years to come.
The TP project was the most memorable trip of my life. The village experience is something that you cannot put into words. I found the hospitality and warmth of the Fijian community just breathtaking, and they truly accept you in as family. Think Pacific’s work with the village’s and the locals creates bonds that is passed down to the volunteers. We as volunteers are brought into the community and instantly feel at home, the communication before project between the team and the village causes the diffusion of tension and allows us to feel a part of our Fijian families instantly. Although looking into project I had the fear of moving into a home with strangers, this was never a concern once we entered the village. The kindness and love that your families give you, alongside the support of your leaders made me feel so safe in our little village. The community that you are apart of, with all the volunteers is one that sticks with you for life. The follow up contact that we have with Think Pacific and the support network provided allows us volunteers to stay connected with our village and creates a home away from home in Fiji. Choosing this Think Pacific trip was the best decision I made, and there is no doubt when I say that I will be returning to Fiji soon.
My Think Pacific experience was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow as a person, all while feeling safe in the friendly environment of the Fijian village. The leaders of our expedition were amazing and they helped make the experience unforgettable. I would thoroughly recommend Think Pacific to anyone who wants to experience different cultures, see the world, and help those who are less fortunate than us. One of the best parts of the experience for me was teaching the children. This was such a rewarding experience, where you are able to make the most difference on project, and really impact the life of the children that you meet. I also found that I learnt more from them than I could ever teach.
The country of Fiji itself is so beautiful and spending time in the village on project is even more so. The families are amazing and take you in as one of their own. You get to experience their ways of living, including their culture, their food, you can experience church services with them too which is probably one of the most amazing experiences in the whole project. The children are lovely and are so excited to have you there with them that they get stuck into activities with you too. My time in the village was definitely something I will never forget, as you can see how what you do on project will change the lives of the children for the better. The support of group leaders really help you feel comfortable and can get involved in project knowing they are there if you need anything at all. This really was an eye opening experience!
Work with Fijians of similar age to yourself and create unique and life-changing friendships. Work on projects together, which help empower young Fijians to build their confidence, knowledge and self-esteem, so they can learn skills for the future. In return, you’ll gain a unique global perspective.
Support children living in the rural areas of Fiji by providing invaluable opportunities to try new activities. Follow your passion and introduce sports, games, creative activities and home tuition. The aim is to develop the self-belief & confidence of each child and open them to new and fun activities.
Volunteering is 90% to do with attitude, rather than specific skills. Everyone brings different passions and interests. We need students who want to embrace a new culture, be great role models and have the desire to throw themselves into new experiences.

This is your chance to coach children sports, create an art competition, host dance classes or improve children’s reading and writing through small group tuition. The aims is for the children to have 2 hours of exciting extra-curricular activities.
Enjoy a traditional dinner with your Fijian family. Then take part in Fijian cultural activities hosted by your village, such as basket weaving, mat weaving & kava ceremonies.
We make the most of Fiji’s beautiful scenery and head outdoors for the day, for team adventures, activities or challenges alongside Fijian youth groups.
We plan huge kids’ clubs for the children on Saturdays, this is your chance to coach additional sports, plan a dance, arts or photography competition or throw a huge fun day for the children with face paints and fun games.
To Fijian people, the Sabbath day is an integral part of local life. It is their day of rest, and time of worship. It’s a great day to kick back and rest and look forward to the hard work of the week to come.
