Blog and Annual Report Written by Cam Watson, Regional Manager (Pacific), Think Pacific 🌴

The start of 2022 through to the end of 2023 has been an incredible period of growth for Think Pacific, across so many areas of the organisation. We have launched new projects, new roles within the team and have created many new partnerships in Fiji and across the world.

There has never been a more diverse array of projects and programmes delivered at Think Pacific, with innovations being tested and project components being refined. Across all operations, the potential for growth has never been more prominent and the success of delivery this year proves testament to where our Fiji based operations can go in the year fast approaching.

The past year was always going to be a big one…especially after the re-launch of in-country projects post the COVID-19 pandemic. We had a major opportunity to build on new delivery platforms that had been created during and post pandemic with a skilled and experienced staff team in Fiji that has never been larger.

I am incredibly proud of the efforts of everyone who was involved in the delivery of our programmes in the last year. As cliche as it sounds, it is true; it would not have been possible without the dedication and energy that so many individuals put into their work, from every programme leader through to management.

In terms of successes, the figures in our annual report hopefully demonstrate the scale and nature of achievements. Financial investment into Fiji this year alone reached $3.3 million FJD. We have had a total of 2,110 project participants and interns join across our different programmes this year from 111 different universities and over 25 countries.

Study Tours have been a recent and exceptionally successful addition to our arsenal of delivery in the last year, alongside our Remote Internship and Mobility Project departments. Recognising our strengths, we have been able to heighten our impact towards our partners’ goals and organisationally refine our focus and delivery style.

Ultimately, we have strived in all we do to ensure international cultural exchange opportunities are accessible and life-changing for all…I would say we have matured into an official facilitator of international education, an industry led professional experience platform and a leader in responsible and impactful community tourism, as recognised in our securing of the “Study Abroad and Exchange Experience of the Year” at the 2023 PIEonner awards.

There is always room for improvement, we are hungry for it, and we continue to reflect on feedback across all stakeholders and improve our operations into the coming year. But we will continue to provide international participants with a perspective altering, meaningfully challenging and enjoyable experience and our program partners, stakeholders and community partners a surplus in support for the capacity building towards their aims.

The following report offers a glimpse into the successes of the previous year in Fiji across three departments. It highlights key feedback, statistics and other trends so that all may understand the extent of the impact made and the direction that we are taking; the opportunity to expand what is already an exciting and innovative space of project delivery.

On behalf of the TP team in Fiji. I would like to say a big vinaka vaka levu (thank you) to everyone who has contributed in any way to the TP Foundation across the past year and I hope you enjoy reading the report – Cam.
