Global Travel Bursaries Available

Apply for a grant from  Global Opportunities  at the University of Leeds.

The grant covers the full programme cost, cost of accommodation and the majority of your travel costs. Grants are not guaranteed to cover all of students’ living costs on placement, e.g., food and in-country travel.

Please note grant funding is limited and cannot be guaranteed.

  • You will be invited to apply for Turing funding if you meet one or more of the criteria for Underrepresented backgrounds (URB) (See criteria here)
  • Funding is available for 21-day placements in Fiji only between June – August 2026. The Ultimate Fiji programme 21 days  will be prioritised
  • Funding is limited and not guaranteed, even when a student is eligible
  • Complete and submit the form by 23:59 on Sunday 15/02/2026
  • Any student can apply to join a Think Pacific project in Fiji, Thailand or Bali and self-fund

  1. Apply online to Think Pacific, before 15th Feb 2026.
  2. Complete a university funding eligibility application form here, before 15th Feb 2026.
  3. If shortlisted for funding, complete a call with Think Pacific.
  4. Confirm your place with Think Pacific.

Criteria for Higher Rate of Funding
Under-Represented Backgrounds Criteria
URB criteria: 
  • students with an annual household income of £25,000 or less (UK nationals only)
  • students on the Plus Programme
  • students who are registered with Disability Services at the University of Leeds
  • students from UK Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Groups (UK nationals only)
  • mature students (UK national undergraduates who started their degree aged 21 or over and have been out of formal education for at least three years)
  • students receiving Universal Credit or income-related benefits because they are financially supporting themselves or financially supporting themselves and someone who is dependent on them and living with them, such as a child or partner
  • students who are care-experienced or care leavers
  • students who have caring responsibilities in a formal capacity, for example caring for a disabled parent or sibling
  • estranged students (neither of the students’ parents can be found or it is not reasonably practicable to get in touch with either of them)
  • refugees and asylum seekers
  • students from UK armed forces families
  • students who are the first in their family to enter higher education (UK nationals only)
