See Fiji through the eyes of the local people, increase your skills and create lifelong friendships whilst working alongside a Fijian community on local initiatives, which in partnership with the Fijian Government are achieving groundbreaking results.

Whether you are looking to enhance your university degree or embark on a meaningful adventure – our projects are ideal for students looking to expand their horizons and bridge the gap between university and graduate employment.

University Funding Information

Grants are available for students from the Global team & Sports, Outdoor and Exercise Science Department at the University of Derby.

  • The financial support available is as follows:
    • 1 x student that qualifies for ‘widening participation’ support will receive: = £3,200
    • 2 x students that qualifies for ‘do not qualify for ‘widening participation’ support will receive: £2,105
  • The amount of funding depends on the participant’s circumstances, including household income etc.
  • To be eligible for funding, you must be studying a sports-related course at the University of Derby
Application Process
  1. Apply online to Think Pacific, before 30th November 2023.
  2. If shortlisted, you will be contacted to arrange an online interview with Think Pacific in December 2023.
  3. If selected, you must confirm your place before 20th January 2024 & complete funding administration with the University of Derby.

Sports Development Project

Project Dates: 19th June – 16th July 2024

Our 1-month Sports Project in Fiji is perfect for students with a passion for sports coaching.

Not only will you gain unrivalled gross roots coaching experience, you’ll gain a second home in Fiji as you live with a local family whilst immerse into traditional island life.

In partnership with Fiji National Sports Commission, The Ministry of Sport and National Sports Organisations, we develop training, structure and coaching practices with youth groups in Fiji, as well as using physical activity and exercise to promote health and wellbeing community-wide.
