Volunteer Story: Callum Drummond & Bula Batiki

Published 15/05/2017

From volunteering on a Think Pacific project to becoming a social entrepreneur, Callum’s story is definitely a unique one to come from our proud volunteer community!

Like many volunteers, Callum left his heart in his remote Fijian village on Batiki Island during a month long project back in 2012.   He returned year after year and his continued passion combined with his entrepreneurial spirit led to the launch of an immense and ethical concept.   His product ‘Bula Batiki’ is helping villagers to improve their standard of living and create a sustainable income for remote villagers.

Never did Callum imagine that a month long project with Think Pacific would lead to setting up a business, which in turn is helping so many Fijian families,  and has changed the direction of his own working life.

Watch Callum’s full video to hear his inspiring story and find out more about the social enterprise he created with fellow past TP volunteer, Ellis.  We wish them the best of luck and support and they embark on a journey to sell coconut oil straight from one of the most beautiful and remote places on earth.
