Think Pacific is partnered with the Go Global team at the Western Sydney University to provide service-learning projects, work-integrated learning placements and study tour opportunities. Depending on eligibility and availability, students can access funding for some of our projects in Fiji.

How to Apply for Western Sydney University Funding?

If you would like to participate in this program, follow the steps below:

1. Register your interest with Western by clicking the register button on this webpage. You will also need to submit your application with Think Pacific after you register with Western.

2. Receive an offer letter from Think Pacific.

3. Receive further instructions from Western to complete your registration. The International Office will connect students with the university Travel and Security provider (ISOS).

4. It is highly recommended that you book an advising session with Go Global to have further discussion on how the program would work, including if you could possibly receive credits.

If you have any questions regarding any funding opportunities or eligibility, please contact staff at the university.

How do I get academic credit for a Think Pacific Project? 

You may be able to access credit through Core Subjects, Elective Subjects and Unspecified Academic Credit.

💡The Western Sydney University Handbook is an amazing resource to review the subjects offered in your program, core subjects & elective subjects. If in doubt, you can always contact your Director of Academic Program (DAP) for further advice.

Western Sydney University Financial Assistance

Once the college office has approved, you can submit an online application for financial assistance with the Go Global team.

  • Go Global Grant of $500 to offset part of the international program fee (conditions apply). Places will be offered to the first students who apply, meet all the eligibility criteria and commit to the program. You can read more here.
  • OS-HELP Loan ($7,921 if you will be studying outside of Asia or $9,504 if you will be studying in Asia for 2024).
  • Contact the Scholarships team via Ask Flinders for all financial assistance enquiries.

 

OS-HELP Funding

OS-HELP is a generous Australian Government funding initiative and is one of the most progressive funding opportunities in the world for university students! Eligible students can borrow funds to assist them with paying for some – or all – of their approved overseas program costs:

  • Up to $7,921 – for studies outside Asia
  • Up to $9,504 – for studies within Asia
  • Additional $1,263 – Asian language studies, specifically in preparation for your study in Asia.

OS-HELP is administered by your Australian university. If you are interested in taking advantage of this funding opportunity you will need to submit an OS-HELP application directly to your university. You can find more information on your universities website.

Other Potential Funding Opportunities...

Winston Churchill Trust Fellowship- for Fiji & Bali Projects: The Churchill Fellowship offers Australian citizens and permanent residents a opportunity to travel overseas for four to eight weeks. A Fellowship is a fully funded trip that covers all travel, accommodation and meals, and any other fees approved in your application.

Pacific Development and Conservation Trust Grants-for Fiji Projects: The trust provides funding for projects that support sustainable development where communities work together. There are two application rounds per year, which open in February and August each year.

Our projects in Bali offer you the opportunity to supercharge your CV by completing a professional internship or placement for our inspiring partners, which includes a collection of hand-picked local NGOs, businesses and social enterprises.

Whilst living in a traditional Balinese village and immersing into the local culture, you can promote positive Mental Health or complete an internship for partners across a range of sectors.
