Research

Watch this short video for help on researching a company

Setting aside time to research and prepare for your interview is a valuable skill to learn. It is always good to be over-prepared than under-prepared. It will help to make you feel more confident resulting in giving a positive lasting impression on the interviewers.

Breaking down the Job description:

Narrowing down what the job entails is step 1 in preparing for an interview.

Why not write down 3 examples of experiences in your life that could be used if you were asked about the ‘responsibilities’ section.

For example, in university or whilst studying did you have to work in a team and delegate tasks to people depending on their skill sets?

Example questions that could be asked for this job.

Competencies:
  • Please give an example of a time that you have had to work to deadline.

>  How did you deal with the pressure when the deadline date was approaching?

  • Describe a time that you have had to track your progress within a task. (This could be from within education, personal life or work.)
  • Can you tell me about a time when you demonstrated leadership skills?
Requirements:

After reading the requirements section:

  • Can you tell me about a time when you demonstrated excellent communication skills?
  • Tell me about a time that you made a mistake in your work, and how did you go about rectifying the situation?
