FAQ's - Volunteering

The summer of 2022 promises to be one of the most exciting summers for Think Pacific as it it will see the return of our in-country projects, that have been put on hold for the past two years, due to the pandemic. Our expeditions allow individuals to join a team and work alongside rural Fijian communities on local initiatives to achieve groundbreaking results in line with the Fijian Government.

Listed below are some of the most common questions that people have when looking to join one of our volunteer expeditions.

Our Volunteer Expeditions

Do I have to do the whole thing?

Yes, depending on the project that you sign up for, you are required to be working alongside Think pacific for the duration of those dates. However, in the time before and after the specified dates, you are able to choose what you would like to do- we suggest island hopping and snorkelling, but the choice is entirely yours!

Can I go on the Same Date as My Friend/s?

Absolutely – Just inform the member of staff that is guiding you through your application process and they will be able to make sure you go on the same date!

Do I Need to Bring Spending Money? If So, How Much Do You Recommend?

We would suggest bringing along some extra spending money for your time out in Fiji. We recommend taking different amounts for different project lengths; we suggest £150 for a 1-month project and £250 for a 2-month project.

Can I Fundraise the Project Cost?

Definitely! Many of our volunteers decide to fundraise as it is a great way to get excited and tell others of the amazing work you are about to do, check out this blog for more information – https://thinkpacific.com/top-7-ways-to-fundraise-virtually/

Where will I live?

All of our volunteers live in pairs with a Fijian family! This is one of the most memorable parts for all of our past volunteers, having a family on the other side of the world – who wouldn’t want that?

What Money Goes to Fiji?

Over ⅓ of your fee supports the long term charity aims in Fiji and ensures the sustainability of the initiatives we implement.

Where Does My Money Go?

Registration Fee = This secures your place in the team. It also provides personal support from your project coordinator, full access to our pre-departure resources, live online preparation webinars and your expedition t-shirt. Your registration fee is additional to your project fee.

Project Fee = Many of our volunteers fundraise this entire amount, it’s up to you whether you fundraise or not, but your project fee is due 60 days before your project begins.
