University Funding Guide
Through our university partnerships, we provide programs to over 1000 students annually, enabling them to develop their skills and expand their cultural understanding, whilst contributing to the aims and initiatives of our Fijian partners.
Over $1 million in funding is available to eligible students, for our programs, from a range of global universities partners!
Through our Funding Guide below, you can find the various funding opportunities available for students to join a Think Pacific Programme via their university, with links to specific pages containing all the relevant information you might need.
Depending on your university, funding is available for our Fiji volunteer projects and placements, Fiji study tours, and our Remote Internships. We also work with a number of global universities to offer credit for our programs. Please note that credit and funding is always on a case-by-case basis, so be sure to check your eligibility with your university.
Students have also successfully sought scholarships or partial funding from their faculties or schools, or successfully fundraised their project fee, and we provide a handy guide to help you meet your target.

New Colombo Plan (NCP) Funding Available
The New Colombo Plan Mobility Program provides funding to Australian universities to support Australian undergraduate students’ (undergraduates aged 18 to 28) participation in study, internships, mentorships, practicums and research in 40 host locations across the Indo-Pacific region. OS-Help Loans Available
OS-HELP is a loan for students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) who want to study some of their course overseas. Think Pacific projects are applicable for OS Help funding up to $7,348 AUD.

University Grants
Each university provider usually has their own scholarships and opportunities availability. Students should ask at their International Office/Study Abroad Office for more information.
Applying for Academic Credit
To be eligible for either NCP grants or an OS help loan, you must be eligible to receive academic credit towards your studies for your Think Pacific program.

ACU students may also be eligible to receive the ACU Vice Chancellor and President’s Learning Abroad grant.

To apply for a Think Pacific Fiji program for your Global Community Internship (3002LFC / 7510LFC) click here.
”Participating in an overseas program as a part of your Griffith University degree is one of the best experiences you can have at university. The Community Internship is a 10CP free-choice elective course. That means being able to do something for real in a community organisation to help you make sense of your academic learning and develop an understanding of how you can contribute to your community.”
For this course you must complete a a minimum of 50 hrs volunteering in a community organisation, like Think Pacific. Therefore our 16 day (70 hours) and 1 month (140 hours) projects fit this course perfectly.
As you will receive academic credit for this opportunity you may be eligible to receive a IEIS grant. Eligible students can also apply for an OS-HELP loan.

Go Global Grants
You may qualify to receive a Go Global Grant of AUD $500 to offset part of the international program fee (conditions apply). Places will be offered to the first students who apply, meet all the eligibility criteria and commit to the program. You can read more here.

Travel Programmes
How to Apply
- Find a program (e.g. Think Pacific)
- Access the detailed course outlines/synopses for your chosen program. Email katherine@thinkpacific.com for this.
- Send the course outlines and information about the overseas program to your faculty at usq.support@usq.edu.au. Your faculty will be able to advise you if there is space in your degree and if approval can be granted for credit towards your UniSQ program.
- Submit your application form: Complete the Outbound Mobility Program Application Form if you are applying to travel overseas for an in-country program.
Funding Available
There are several ways to help make your dream overseas experience a reality. To be eligible for any financial support, you must be eligible to receive academic credit towards your studies at UniSQ.
- New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility Grant: Some programs for countries in the Indo-Pacific will have NCP grants available, these will be clearly marked on each program page.
- OS-HELP Loan: The OS-HELP loan provides financial assistance to eligible Australian students wishing to study overseas while receiving credit towards their degree.
- UniSQ International Study Abroad Grant: Some UniSQ grants are available, these will be outlined for each overseas opportunity on the program page.
Remote Programmes
A short-term virtual program allows you to participate in a mobility experience without having to leave Australia. These experiences can include Summer or Winter schools, or for-credit courses delivered virtually through one of our partner institutions.
How to Apply
- Select your program & check eligibilty
- Access the detailed course outlines/synopses for your chosen program. These will be usually available on the host institution website.
- Send the course outlines and information about the overseas program to your faculty at usq.support@usq.edu.au. Your faculty will be able to advise you if there is space in your degree and if approval can be granted for credit towards your UniSQ program.
- Submit your application form: please complete the Virtual Mobility Program Application Form if you are applying for a virtual/online overseas program.

Remote Internship
Fully Funded Scholarship are available for University of The South Pacific Students for Think Pacific’s remote internship, under memorandum of understanding between the university and Think Pacific
Eligibility: Open to students currently studying at any Pacific based campus of USP
Application: Due to open April 2022
Leadership Traineeship Placement
Paid placement for 5-10 weeks during May – September for students working on Think Pacific community programs in rural areas of Fiji.
Eligibility: Current student or recent graduate
